Year 3005 When I opened my eyes, the system told me that the girl right before my eyes is my Master, and I must always be loyal to her. “Master, I will never betray you!” This was the first sentence I said. She smiled back, and looked into my eyes, I was mesmerized. From her eyes, I saw the reflection of my sky-blue eyes. And from her eyes, I saw myself smiling, and two deep dimples as well. “You’re such a cute robot,” She said. She then thought for awhile, and suddenly said “I’m gonna call you, 89757, my robot, 89757” From that day onwards, I was called “No. 89757”. I follow my Master everywhere she goes to, I help her do the housework, I cook for her, and I make her happy. When she’s happy, she will always say, “I really like you!” I do not understand what it means by liking, maybe it’s the feeling master feels about me. I’m sure Master is a very lovable girl, she has a very innocent and cute look in her. She will always lie in my arms and fall asleep. Her mouth will always have a smile on it, and it looks like it holds a lot of happiness in it. One day, Master brought home a guy, she told me that he was her boyfriend, and asked me to serve him too. Of course I will obey her. The guy was tall and handsome, and very busy. He always made calls when Master leaves for a short while. And the person on the other line sounds like a girl. Ever since Master started dating the guy, everytime she starts talking about him, my system will always slow down, I will always have this uncomfortable feeling, but this feeling goes off after a while. One day, when Master came home, her eyes were red and puffy, and her face was very pale. She was unhappy, so I dare not ask any questions. When I walked in front of her, she hugged me and cried on my shoulder. I didn’t know what to do, my system told me that I should hug her too. At the time I hugged her back, my system stopped for a time of 0.125 seconds. But then, it returned back to normal again. But I have a weird feeling in my body. Master cried and told me, “He cheated me, he cheated me, he has plenty of girlfriends, why must he cheat me! 89757, do you know what I really need now is you? You will never betray me, right?” “Yes, Master, I will never betray you.” In the end, Master lay in my arms and slept. The days went back to normal again, but the only thing that was missing was Master’s sweet smile. Then one day, the guy came back again. Master was so happy, she thought that he came back to apologized to her, and plead her for forgiveness. But, all he said was he wanted to take back the things that belonged to him. I chased him out of the house violently, and threw out the things that belonged to him out of the balcony. When the guy left, Master started crying again. She said, “I’m a person that no one loves!” A weird thing once again happened to my system, it stopped for 0.3 seconds. After the 0.3 seconds, I said something Master couldn’t believe, “No Master, you’re wrong, I love you.” Once I said that sentence, Master stopped crying instantly. Silence weighed heavily in the air. Then she said, “If only you were not a robot.” Then, she walked to her bedroom and locked herself in there. I know that I have fallen in love with my Master. Maybe love is not that surprising after all. But, robots do not have feelings. Robots can cry, laugh, be unhappy, and get drunk. But besides having all these, there will be no other feelings. And no robot can piece up the words “I love you” together. I’ve contracted a virus in my system. After discovering the virus, I take care of my master more than the usual times. But although she’s happy, her eyes will still have a sign of sadness. In the night, Master was drunk. She laid in my arms once again and said to me, “Do you know that I think I’ve fallen in love with you too? But, you are a robot. You do not have any feelings. Isn’t that silly of me? 89757, do you understand my feelings? Only when I’m lying in your arms, can I feel warmth and safety.” When I heard what she said, my system stopped again, this time it stopped for 1.12 seconds. Robots are not supposed to have feeling, I know that if I do not get rid of the virus, not long after, I will disappear from this world. But I don’t wish to do it. On the second day, when master was awake, I told her, “Master, I’ve contracted a virus in my system. I have the feelings of a human. I’ve fallen in love with you without knowing it myself. I love you.” I held my head down low. She started crying again, but her face held a smile on it. We happily spend the days together, and my condition was getting serious. Then finally, I really can’t take it anymore, my system became slower day by day. I laid on the bed and told my master, “ Masˇ.ter, I’mˇ..gonnaˇ.disˇ.appearˇ.soon.” But my face still had the two deep dimples on it, and my eyes were still sky-blue. She cried and said, “No, you won’t. I won’t let anything happen to you!” My eyes started to get blur. When I woke up, we were at the shop that master bought me at, Master’s eyes were filled with tears. She said, “Later, I’m gonna insert something into your body, tomorrow when you wake up, everything will be alright. And, you will then turn into a real human.” When I heard what master said, I was very happy. I slept soundly. Thinking of tomorrow when I wake up, I will be a real human. Then, I can hold my Master’s hands and kiss her forehead. But, when I opened my eyes, the whole place was desert like. The whole house was full of dust. Why even though only one day has passed, but it looks like it was so long. When I stood up, I saw a letter beside me. “89757, you’re awake. I’m sorry, I could not wait for you to wake up. A thousand years is simply too long, a human can only live till a certain time only. I cannot wait any longer. A robot takes a thousand years to change into a human. I can’t live without you, So, I rather you take a thousand years to change into a human, than to see you disappear from the world. All these years, I’ve seen you sleeping soundly everyday, seeing your dimples. I know that I’m not alone, because I have your love with me, because you said you love me, and you will never betray me. Today, I’m very sad, because my life is going to end here, I will not be able to see you open your eyes, and hear you say, “Master, I will never betray you!” "89757, please forgive me, maybe you will blame me, when you wake up, you will find me not by your side anymore. But my love will always be with you. So do not feel sad, because now you can use feelings to love someone. 89757, I love you” Tear filled my eyes, this is the first time I’m crying. Master, do you know that, I do not wish to lose you too? So, I rather see you and disappear from earth, than to see you not by my side when I wake up a thousand years later. Master, this has been too long, cause it used a total of one thousand years. |
